The structure is one Square seller account for the shop, with each barber added as a team member. Square's staff profile article says team members can be made available for booking, manage their own schedules and process payments, and that the default permission sets have mobile point of sale access enabled. A barber signs into the Square app on their own phone and takes the payment at the chair, including with Tap to Pay, which Square's Appointments pricing page describes as taking payments with just your phone and no additional hardware.
On a shared register, attribution depends on personal passcodes. Square's team article says assigning personal passcodes instead of a single team passcode lets you track sales, time and actions by team member, and its passcode article says a team passcode does not support tracking by team member. Tips are attributed to the team member who processed the payment, and by default each team member keeps 100% of the tips they collect. On Square Plus and Premium the shop can pool tips instead, by transaction, hours or percentage.
Square's commission article says that when an employee is assigned to an appointment they are attributed to the sale and receive the commission and tips from it, and that attribution is recorded at the time of sale and cannot be changed afterward. Commission rates can be set per employee. Commission tracking is listed for Square Plus and Premium.
Payouts go to the bank account linked to the account or to each location; Square documents separate bank accounts per location, not per team member. A booth renter who wants card sales deposited to their own bank should run their own Square account, which costs $0 a month on Square Free. Square's own booth rental guide notes that renters generally have their own business and are independent contractors.
Deposits at online booking are available on every Square plan; Square notes it does not take a deposit when staff book on the client's behalf. Cancellation policies with a held card and no-show fees require Square Plus or Premium, as do the waitlist and tip pooling.
