Square's restaurants page describes coursing to time dishes, table and seat management and a custom floor plan. Its full service page describes routing dine-in, takeout and delivery orders to the right prep station on a kitchen display. Its pricing page describes splitting a check by items or seats or into equal payments, QR code payments on receipts, and lists coursing and seat management as the headline of Square Premium.
On tips, Square's pricing page describes pooling each card tip equally across tip-eligible employees clocked in at the time of the transaction, and team member shift reports showing daily sales and tip payouts, with live reporting by section such as bar, dining room or patio.
Square Handheld lists at $399 and weighs 0.7 pounds; it runs on Wi-Fi. Offline payments upload when the device reconnects, within 24 hours and no later than 72, and the restaurant carries the risk of any decline while offline.
NCR's Aloha point of sale page describes multi-tiered check splitting, multiple revenue centers, table, tab and check management including transfers between staff, and built-in redundancy designed to reduce transaction loss during network disruptions. NCR does not publish Aloha pricing, so we quote it per group. The National Restaurant Association reports a median of $27.00 an hour for waitstaff at full service restaurants, which is why server time on the floor matters.
